Teens and Young Adults
This time of life can be hard!! Expectations are high and stress can increase during this transitional phase. Clients in this age group experience a range of challenges - social pressures and the effects of social media, moving toward greater independence and autonomy, making major life decisions regarding college or career, sometimes questioning identity, sexuality, family role, or place in the world. I often see a rise in depression, anxiety, isolation, and difficulty navigating relationships. Being a parent of two in this age range, I understand the struggles of this time of life and how the complexity of the parent-child relationship can factor in. I am committed to creating a safe place for my younger clients to explore their feelings, without judgment, and help them develop tools to manage their emotions more effectively. I have been told by clients that my office has been the one place where they have felt comfortable and safe enough to talk about big feelings and situations that they often work hard to hide from friends and family.
